I like that the Malaseb shampoo is clear and goes on smoothly over the affected areas. We are using this now on our bulldog. She has yeast on her skin and is losing hair. Our vet highly recommended this shampoo to help kill all the bacteria and any fungus that may be growing.
Awesome results. My dog had a mysterious and smelly itching problem where he'd nibble at his paws and other areas until raw. Tried various things such as oatmeal shampoos, herbal liquids and Benadryl with no improvement. Vet even thought it may be food allergies. The last step before expensive tests was when our vet recommended Chlorhexiderm and Malaseb shampoos each used weekly, so we did one on the weekends, the other in middle of week. Within a few weeks the problem was gone. I'd recommend getting both Chlorhexiderm and Malaseb shampoos and use on an alternating basis and see if it knocks the problem out. Remember to bring a kitchen timer so you let the shampoo sit the full recommended 10 minutes.
I have been using this shampoo on my Cocker Spaniel for 3 months now and it is working great. He does not scratch like he did. The only drawback with this product is he has lots of long hair and it takes a lot of it, even if you are careful. It is expensive.
I have been using this shampoo on my Boxer for two years and he has beautiful hair and skin. My vet recommended it and I at first hesitated using it as I was using really good oatmeal or aloe shampoos but nothing worked as well as this. My dog does have skin allergies so I bathe him 1-2 times a week. I highly recommend this product!
Bathing frequency depends on a number of factors: the particular breed of dog, how much time is spent outdoors, the dog's age, and any existing medical conditions, to name a few.
