Delivers precise dosage for U40 Feline Insulin
Our kitty requires 1 unit of U40 at breakfast time and 1 unit at supper time. it is essential we use the correct syringe for U40 in order to convey the correct amount of medication. It isn't volume of liquid but amount of medication that you must deliver. Many people mistakenly think a unit of insulin with any old syringe is okay. Using a U100 syringe for example, would require you to deliver 2.5 units of U40 insulin to match one unit from a U40 syringe.
We find buying 100 U40 syringes very handy with the convenient 'sharps' container in which to contain them. I only wish they could come up with a smaller syringe yet for the very small doses like we give our kitty. We don't need a syringe that can hold 20 units and really could get by with a shorter needle. A 10 unit or even a 5 unit syringe would work just fine.

Make sure you get the right size
If the needle is too long, it's because you haven't gotten the right size in the first place. My vet sells me the 3/10cc UltiCare, and I found this brand of syringe must easier to push down on than other brands I have tried. The dispenser is great. Even though you can fit at least twice as many syringes as what comes with the product, you won't find a 10-pack cheap enough to buy them separately. Much better than using 2-liter soda bottles.
Unfortunately, this site does not seem to sell the 3/10cc syringes, but don't buy the 1/2cc just because they're U-40. Yes, it will be too long. I wouldn't rate the product poorly because you got an improper size.
If I give the shot correctly (I don't always find the best place) my cat doesn't flinch at all. She even walks up to me to get the shot, because I give her a nice head scratch afterwards.

needle is too long
I dont care for the needle on the syringe-its too long. Previously, we were using shorter needles (5/16") and a smaller gauge (31g) syringe with Lantus insulin. But having switched to Prozinc insulin which is U-40 the syringe choices are limited. I wish there were more options with the U-40 syringes. My cat never flinched before with the shorter needle, he does not like these syringes. However, on the positive side, the markings on the barrel of the syringe are very easy to read.
