What should I discuss with my veterinarian while considering Hexadene® for my pet?
Talk to your veterinarian about what type of outcome is expected. Have your veterinarian explain the other treatment options that may be available to treat your pet's condition.
Tell your veterinarian if your pet develops skin irritation while using this product. If your pet's skin condition persists or no improvement is seen within 10 days, consult your veterinarian.
Notify your veterinarian of any other medications or supplements your pet is taking, or if your pet has had any reactions to previous medications.
Who should not take it?
Not for use in patients hypersensitive (allergic) to it or to similar products.
Consult a veterinarian before using on a debilitated animal.
For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes or mucus membranes.
If condition does not show improvement after one week, discontinue use and consult your veterinarian.
Wash hands after use.
Consult with your veterinarian regarding the physical examinations and laboratory testing necessary prior to and during treatment with chlorhexidine flush.
What side effects may be seen when taking Hexadene®?
None if used according to directions.
If skin irritation develops or increases, discontinue use and contact your veterinarian.
How is it stored?
Store in a tight, light resistant, childproof container at room temperature. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
What should I do if I know of or suspect there has been an overdose?
Adverse reactions and toxicities are unlikely.
If you know or suspect your pet has had an overdose, or if you observe any unusual signs, symptoms, or behaviors in your pet, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children and pets.
What should I avoid when giving my pet Hexadene®?
Consult with your veterinarian before using chlorhexidine flush with any other medications, including vitamins and supplements, since interactions may occur.
