Seed Hoop Seed Catcher & Platform Feeder

Finally, you can put an end to seed messes on your lawn with the Seed Hoop. When seed accumulates on the ground beneath a feeder, it causes seed rot, bare lawn spots, and rodent visitors. It also wastes seed that was intended for birds. The Seed Hoop seed catcher is the perfect solution.

Seed Hoop fits on virtually any bird feeder, including pole feeders, to catch seed and ensure a cleaner, healthier feeding station. It also doubles as a generous platform feeder to attract even more birds, and can also help prevent squirrels from launching ground attacks on your feeders.

Seed Hoop attaches to feeders using 4 included cords with hooks (each adjustable cord extends to 36" in length). The hoop is made of vinyl-coated fiberglass mesh, reinforced at the rim with steel wire. The hoop can be twist folded to 1/3 its size for easy storage. Hoop also features a wind-guard lip that helps save even more seed in windy conditions. Rain and moisture drains through the mesh to help keep seed fresh. Hoop includes all mounting hardware.

ATTACHING THE SEED HOOP TO HANGING BIRD FEEDERS:

1. Attach the snap hooks to the rings on the Seed Hoop.
2. Lay the Seed Hoop on the ground or other flat surface.
3. Place your bird feeder in the center of the Seed Hoop.
4. Hook the metal hooks over the rim of your bird feeder, distributing them as evenly as possible. You can also place the metal hooks over the hanger at the top of the bird feeder.
5. Adjust each cord by squeezing the button and pulling the cord through to the desired length.

Note: The optimum distance the Seed Hoop should hang below your feeder is about 6" - If it exceeds 6", more seed will be lost; less than 6", birds will not feed as easily under the feeder.

ATTACHING THE SEED HOOP TO POLE BIRD FEEDERS:

1. Remove your bird feeder from the pole.
2. In the center of the Seed Hoop, cut a small X (equal or just smaller than the pole's diameter).
3. Gently push the Seed Hoop over the top of the pole (if needed, enlarge the X just enough to allow the Seed Hoop to fit snugly over the pole).
4. Reposition the bird feeder on the pole.
5. Attach the snap hooks to the rings on the Seed Hoop.
6. Hook the metal hooks over the rim of your bird feeder, distributing them as evenly as possible.
7. Adjust each cord by squeezing the button and pulling the cord through to the desired length.

USING THE SEED HOOP AS AN INDEPENDENT HANGING PLATFORM FEEDER:

1. Hook the snap hooks over the rings on the Seed Hoop.
2. Hook five of the metal hooks into the loop at the bottom of the 6th metal hook (large hoop). For the small hoop, hook three metal hooks into the loop at the bottom of the 4th.
3. Extend each cord to desired length by squeezing the button and pulling the cord.
4. Use this 6th hook (large hoop) or 4th hook (small hoop) to hang the Seed Hoop.

TO DISPOSE OF ACCUMULATED SEED HUSKS:
Bend and tip the Seed Hoop toward a garbage can. (If necessary, detach the Seed Hoop from the bird feeder.) Pour the seed husks into the garbage.

CLEANING THE SEED HOOP:
It is recommended that the Seed Hoop be cleaned every two weeks with a solution of mild detergent in water with a capful of liquid bleach added.

STORING THE SEED HOOP:
Unhook the Seed Hoop from the bird feeder; remove the snap hooks from the rings and store the cords in the bag provided. Twist the Seed Hoop in thirds and insert into its storage bag. Also, put the bag of cords in the storage bag.

CAUTION:
To avoid personal injury, detach the cord and hook assembly before folding/storing the Seed Hoop. The Seed Hoop may spring open when removed from the storage bag.

SNOW AND WIND:
The Seed Hoop supports the weight of several inches of snow. Just brush it off down to the seed so the birds can continue to feed. With hanging feeders, a flat rock or small weight in the middle of the Seed Hoop can help stabilize it in strong wind. Cinching it up closer to the bird feeder also helps reduce swing.

Note: On many feeders, you need to be creative and find what works best. Many folks tell us they put the hooks in seed ports, while many others tell us it works well to hook the Seed Hoop into the Top Hangers on Feeders.
