50 W Ice Eliminator Birdbath De-Icer
Seems to work great
Haven't had this long, but whew, the birds are so happy to have water during the freeze. Birds that don't usually come to our feeders are showing up!

I USED THIS DE-ICER IN MY BIRDBATH LAST WINTER AND WILL USE AGAIN. I LIKE THE IDEA THAT IT IS ONLY 50 WATTS AND FITS WELL IN MY BIRD BATH. MOST OF THE TIME IT KEEPS ALL THE WATER THAWED EXCEPT WHEN IT GOES BELOW 10 TO 15 DEGREES WHEN THE WATER FREEZES ONLY AROUND THE RIM. THERE IS ALWAYS A GOOD PORTION OF MELTED WATER IN THE CENTER, EVEN AT MINUS ZERO THAT THE BIRDS EASILY DRINK FROM.

had a really cold winter and the water stayed unfrozen in the center, it did freeze a little around the rim of the bird bath--would recommend

A perfect solution for our needs.
We make sure that there is water available in our back yard for the birds all year long. Based on two weeks experience, this product provides a relatively low cost way to keep a six to eight inch area in one of our bird baths ice free at 10 degrees (unusually cold for this area). I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 50 watt heating element would do the job. A perfect solution - low initial cost, low power consumption and water for the birds.
