This is the very best feeder on the market as far as I'm concerned. I have one of these and three of the Bluebird cup ones. My bluebirds love them. They sit in there and feel very secure knowing that the starlings can't get in. Most caged feeders don't give enough space and my birds feel intimidated, cramped and their tails are bent when inside. This is EXTREMELY well made. Just the best feeder out there as far as I'm concerned. For small birds anyway. Maybe would like to have the base/floor lined in plastic. Worry about it getting too hot for their feet in the summer and freezing their feet in the winter. I'm going to try lining mine with duct tape.. Didn't have much luck with the suet insert. Not many of my birds went into the cage for the suet, but I have many other uncaged suet feeders around that they would use first. This is a very nice, well made feeder, whatever configuration you chose to use. Can't say enough good about it. Have 4 - coming back for more soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Edette Keeps the squirrels out of the bird food!!
this bird feeder is perfect for my needs. I have an over abundance of squirrels which I adore but want to keep them out of the bird food. It works perfectly. Didn't come with directions but had wonderful help from the staff. It would be nice if the seed cakes (sizes, etc.) were posted for use in this product.

Our backyard frequently looks like an Alfred Hitchcock film with large black birds swarming over the feeders.
This feeder is designed to keep them out and succeeds very well -- great for smaller birds.

This is the BEST feeder I've ever purchased - not only does it keep squirrels out, it also has enough distance between the outer cage and whichever inner feeder you use to keep the starlings from reaching thru with their longer beaks!! PLUS some birds perch on the top of the suet holder for shelter when it's raining/snowing.
Have 1 - buying more to replace my other non-starling proof feeders.
