Placement
When you first hang or post mount this feeder, it should reside near cover, in a shaded area away from homes, and gradually be moved to the desired viewing area. Attach orange ribbons to the feeder to help attract orioles. For post mounting, drive a 1" pole into the ground about one foot and place the feeder on top of the pole (mounting hole exists on feeder bottom). For hanging, loop the hanging wire (included) around a tree branch or hanging hook (purchased separately).

Cleaning
Clean your oriole feeder regularly. Orioles will not visit feeders with spoiled nectar or feeders that are dirty. Disassemble feeder and clean all parts in a nontoxic soap/water solution. Use a small scrub brush (#28460) to clear clogged ports when necessary. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. Clean feeder regularly with hot water to prevent fermentation and mold - about every 3 days in hot weather, and about every 7 days in cooler weather.

Mixing instructions
Place 1 heaping teaspoon of Easy Mix Instant Nectar for every 2 ounces of feeder capacity in a suitable container. Fill the feeder bottle full of water and stir until completely dissolved. No boiling needed. To mix for future use, add the entire package contents to 6 cups of water. Refrigerate and store in a covered container.

If you prefer to mix your own nectar solution:
*Nectar Solution: Combine 1 part white sugar to 4 parts water. Bring to slow boil for 2 minutes. Excess may be stored in refrigerator.
