Squirrels and starlings don't eat safflower seed!
I had stopped feed ing the birds because squirrels and starlings were eating the seed. I ordered 50 lb of safflower seed from Doctors Foster and Smith. The order promptly arrived and the seed was clean and appeared to be of good quality.
I put the seed into the feeder. Song birds returned. Cardinals and nuthatches enjoy eating the seed. Squirrels have investigated the safflower seed, but do not stay at the feeder to eat. Starlings land on the feeder and soon leave.

Very high quality
The safflower seed was very high quality. The resealable 5 lbs bags were a nice surprise! Also, no "odd" chemical (turpentine) smell which is what I have been getting when I purchase safflower seed at the larger retail stores.
Also, the price per pound is lower than retail stores.
I will reorder safflower seeds from Doctors Foster & Smith and perhaps start ordering my thistle here, too.

Cardinals really love this seed
I'm always looking for different healthy items for my wild birds to eat and Drs Foster and Smith never let me - or my birds - down. I tried a bag of these safflower seeds and had so many cardinals at my feeders it was amazing. They were eating the safflower rather than the sunflower and other seeds and I had to put another scoop out for the other birds to enjoy, which they did with gusto! Living in northwestern NJ it gets snowy and very cold and the wild birds that winter here need all the help they can get. I like the nutrient rich seeds and suet cakes I get from Drs Foster and Smith and these safflower seeds are an item I order regularly. When I go outside to fill the feeders the birds sit in the trees watching and tweeting, maybe saying "thank you for the great tasting seed" . Thanks Drs Foster and Smith for another great product.

Good product
Seeds are good and the small sized bags are nice making it easier to transport to fill various feeders. Larger keep cost lower and the shipping is the same anyway if you buy many of the smaller bags.I would like to see more variety of seed and larger size bags as well. I have lots of different types of birds and will not buy seed with the millet filler as it germinates into weeds in the lawn. So I am stuck with Safflower and Nyger seed.
