No/No Solar Lighthouse Finch Feeder

Say "ahoy" to the flocks of finches that visit this metal Nyjer feeder. This beauty is painted black, white, and a touch of red, just like a traditional lighthouse. Like all No/No Feeders, this lighthouse design has absolutely no wood and no plastic for squirrels or other critters to chew. Plus, since squirrels HATE Nyjer, they'll leave it alone. All metal 1/4" mesh construction with powder-coated finish is also weather resistant.

Finches and other small birds have their choice of feeding positions. They can cling to the sides, perch on the wire ladder or the ring that surrounds the lighthouse, or feed at the bottom tray. Tray at bottom also captures fallen seed and features drain holes to prevent mold. Beacon at top is a solar-powered LED light with on and off switch. It's a novelty at night to turn it on, even though finches don't feed at night. During the day, it captures the sun's energy to light up at night again and again. Top twists off to fill easily and hang. Holds about 1-1/8 qt Nyjer seed.

Finches and feeders
Goldfinches, Purple Finches, and others of the finch family are curious, social birds that are likely to gather in flocks at feeders offering Nyjer thistle or black oil sunflower seed. They are active and acrobatic, and backyard birders love watching their antics as they flit from feeder to tree and back again.

Most any feeder will attract finches, but they love Nyjer seed feeders. The bonus? Bigger birds and squirrels don't care for Nyjer thistle, so the feeder will be safe from unwanted raiders.

Tip: Make sure your Nyjer is fresh, because finches feed by cracking open each individual seed and sipping out the oil. Since dried-out Nyjer has no oil, finches won't bother coming to a feeder with old seed.
