Does what I need it to do
Our backyard frequently looks like an Alfred Hitchcock film with large black birds swarming over the feeders.
This feeder is designed to keep them out and succeeds very well -- great for smaller birds.

Finally - a starling barrier!!
This is the BEST feeder I've ever purchased - not only does it keep squirrels out, it also has enough distance between the outer cage and whichever inner feeder you use to keep the starlings from reaching thru with their longer beaks!! PLUS some birds perch on the top of the suet holder for shelter when it's raining/snowing.
Have 1 - buying more to replace my other non-starling proof feeders.

Not usable for bluebirds
There are two major flaws. The openings are only 1-3/8 inches square, which are not large enough to accommodate full size bluebirds, and the feeder's large horizontal surfaces combined with its light weight, result in it blowing all over the place in moderate winds. I resolved the wind problem by adding a hanging weight on the bottom, but the openings have allowed only finches to get in.
