Natural CareFRESH Pet Bedding Natural 30L 4.1 5 29 29

Great bedding Soft and cozy. My hamster loves burrowing in this bedding. It keeps odors to a minimum and there are no harsh odors in the bedding itself like with pine. March 4, 2013

EXCELLENT PRODUCT! VERY ABSORBENT! I have used CareFresh Natural for years and years and years. Pine and Cedar are not necessarily recommended for house-bunnies and other small animals, and hay isn't exactly absorbent, so CareFresh is the perfect solution for bunny litter boxes. I can fill at least 10 large litter boxes with one bag of this stuff. I always stick with the Natural, but it's cool how CareFresh comes in fun colors now as well. January 14, 2013

A MUST HAVE for any small animal keeper! I simply cannot get over the odor control of this product. I would typically use Aspen shavings to keep my guinea pigs on. You could smell urine the very next day after a cleaning. With Carefresh, I don't EVER smell urine. Their enclosures get cleaned 1x/week. With the wood chips, come the 3rd day, I don't even want to sleep in that room! And Carefresh is so absorbent, I can make a large bag last through THREE cleanings! Granted, it is more expensive than the wood chips, which is why I was only using it "sometimes", but I have concluded it is DEF worth the $$. And my piggies LOVE how soft it is! They never used to "nestle" down like they do now! Check out the photo! Excellent product. You really need to use it and compare it to wood chips to see for yourself. December 28, 2012

Super duper absorbent I use Care Fresh Natural Bedding in the litter boxes under the hay in my piggies C&C cage. It absorbs a weeks worth of piggiepee easily, and keeps their litterboxes soft and dry when they eat and play in their hay. December 11, 2012

I just have rabbits. I did use the natural for a long time, but tried the basic & really like it. According to the package, it is good for rats, but I don't have any other knowledge about that.

I dont recommend it rats have very sensitive respiratory tracts and its very dusty which can cause a lot of irritation. U can use towels and use hypoallergenic detergent or for my gerbils and hamsters i like the soft granule bedding by kaytee its still a little pricey but not a bad as some of the other stuff or the eco bedding would be good if u rather use a bedding

What is the wood that is used in the basic bedding when they say wood shavings? I am allergic to aspen and was hoping for more specific information.

I don't know what kind of wood, but the package states that several kinds of white woods are used. The litter does not have strong odor like pine or cedar, & it states it is made for rabbits & other small animals. I think it's great, & the cost is very reasonable. I use a lot of litter because I scoop it & change it frequently to make sure the bunnies have a healthy place.

Basic is a mixture of the cotton stuff and wood shavings, Natural is just wood shavings and Ultra is just the cotton stuff. Its not cotton but the fiber material they use.

Natural is the regular grayish brown, ultra is bleached and has longer fibers, and basic has wood shavings added to the regular bedding.

I cannot give you an exact percentage but based on my untrained eye, it's mostly wood shavings IMO. I'd say it was only about 15-20% of the paper material.
