Unique design incorporates three stages of filtration to keep terrarium water clean, clear, and odor-free. These filters work in shallow water depths, making them ideal for the low water level aquatic environments preferred by turtles, newts, and frogs. Unlike conventional filters, ReptoFilter's compact design makes it easy to conceal, so it's perfect for creating waterfalls. Choose from two submerged-motor models to provide efficient filtration for aquatic reptile or amphibian habitats housing frogs or turtles.

Install the ReptoFilter on the back wall of your terrarium. Unlike conventional filters, its small size makes it easy to hide with a plant or other decorative object. From the front, it's practically invisible. To create a waterfall, camouflage the ReptoFilter with rocks.
Unique design incorporates three stages of filtration for optimum performance.
It's a mechanical filter - The ReptoFilter cartridge uses dense, dual-sided mesh to catch debris and waste.
It's a chemical filter - Ultra-activated carbon removes odors and discoloration.
It's a biological filter - Bio-Foam cultivates aerobic bacteria, which eliminate toxic ammonia and nitrites before water cascades back into terrarium.
Directions for use:
Insert suction cups. When pressed firmly and twisted, the suction cups will fit snugly into the holes in the back of the ReptoFilter. If they don't go in easily, a small screwdriver can be used to gently guide the suction cups into the holes.
Insert the filter cartridge and foam grid. (Note: The front of the foam grid is marked "front" and should face the front of the filter.)
Insert ReptoFilter inside the aquarium and press the suction cups against the aquarium glass. Drape wire over the aquarium wall.
The lip of the ReptoFilter should be above water level, and the bottom of the filter should be submerged in at least two inches of water. When positioning plants and other items, take care to leave at least 1/2" clearance around the filter's intake area.
Attach ReptoFilter lid.
Note: The ReptoFilter comes with illustrated, detailed instructions for set-up and installation.
Helpful hints:
When cleaning the ReptoFilter, unplug the unit. Do not use detergents or soaps as residue may be harmful to animals.
It is not recommended to put sand in the terrarium when using the ReptoFilter.
If the foam gird becomes clogged, remove and wash with water until debris is removed.
The filter cartridge should be replaced every four weeks. To change the cartridge, unplug the ReptoFilter, remove and replace the cartridge, then re-plug the ReptoFilter.
When medicating fish or aquatic reptiles, remove the filter cartridge as it absorbs most medications.
If the motor is noisy, unplug the ReptoFilter and remove it from the terrarium. Remove the motor, open its cover, and flush gravel, leaves, or other debris with cool water. Reattach the motor to the filter, mount the ReptoFilter in the aquarium, and re-plug the unit.
When putting tap water into the terrarium, add water conditioner to neutralize harmful chlorine and chloramines.
Note: If servicing the ReptoFilter 125, remove the two pan head Phillips screws located at the bottom of the filter to access the impeller for maintenance.
Replacement Cartridges
Directions for use:
Open carton and remove plastic bag containing the ReptoFilter disposable filter cartridges.
Remove one ReptoFilter cartridge and rinse the cartridge under cold water to remove carbon dust.
Remove ReptoFilter lid and insert cartridge into "V" slots and slide it all the way down into the filter.
Replace when water begins to backflow over the top of the clogged cartridge.
With so many different filters to choose from, it can get confusing trying to create a proper filtration system for your herp's habitat. Our convenient filter guide is here to help clear up any confusion.
