Rated 4 out of 5 by LexoticPets Good staple diet, better products available
This is a powdered product that you mix with dechlorinated water until you have a workable consistency. I have used this product as a main diet source for my pacman frogs: Ceratophrys cranwelli, C. ornata, and hybrids. All my frogs grew quickly and maintain good health. Treats include night crawlers every two weeks and a rodent every four to six weeks. No vitamin supplements are needed so long as the bulk of your frog's diet comes from the Zoo Med formula.
Ornates take to tong feeding immediately, cranwellis take a bit more patience as they are not as food aggressive. Start cranwellis, or other reluctant species out on earthworm bits fed via tongs to get them used to the process. The Zoo Med food falls apart too easily for tong training, but worms can be picked up and rinsed in a handy cup of dechlorinated water. Once your frog is taking food from tongs reliably, start him on Zoo Med.
It's so much more convenient to keep this food handy than to keep crickets and roaches in the apartment (management hates that). It saves trips to the pet store and a lot of mess feeding and keeping live food. Night crawlers are the go-to staple for live food, but they are not always in stock or in the best shape locally.
When comparing ingredients, better products include Samurai Pacman Food and Hikari Pacman Food. Samurai is hands-down the bets choice. They've been feeding their formula to their high end genetic lines for a decade with great success, but they're more expensive. I have had no experience with Hikari's formula, but you don't have to mix it, so it's nice if you're in a rush or hate getting messy.
