Zoo Med Reptitemp Digital Infrared Thermometer displays temperature readings in Fahrenheit (-28° to 230°F) or Celsius (-33° to 110°C). Min/Max Function lets you easily detect the coolest and warmest temperature in an area. Unit measures ambient temperature in Standby Mode. Reptitemp Digital Infrared Thermometer measures 2-7/8" x 1-1/4" x 1/2" thick and includes a CR2032 lithium cell battery and a 7" lanyard.

Set the Temperature Scale (°F or °C):
To check the current setting, look for the °F or °C on the display. To change it, perform the following steps:

1. Press and release the "SCAN" button once to exit STANDBY mode. The "thermometer" icon will disappear and the word "Hold" will appear on the display.
2. Press the "MODE" button five times to cycle through the settings until the temperature scale (°F or °C) is flashing on the display.
3. With the temperature scale flashing, press the "SCAN" button to change the scale.

Set the Clock:

1. Press and release the "SCAN" button once to exit STANDBY mode. The "thermometer" icon will disappear and the word "Hold" will appear on the display.
2. Press the "MODE" button six times to cycle through the setting until the word "SET" flashes on the display next to the time.
3. Set AM/PM or 24-Hour Clock: With the word "SET" flashing, press the "SCAN" button once and then press "SCAN" again to select the 24-hour clock (indicated by "24" on the display), or 12-hour clock (PM will appear if the current time is during the PM).
4. Set the Hour: While still in the clock setting mode, press "MODE" again until the hour flashes and then press "SCAN" to change the hour.
5. Set the Minutes: Press "MODE" again until the minutes flash and then press "SCAN" to set the current time. Press "MODE" once more to exit programming.

Measuring Temperatures:
To easily measure surface temperatures, simply "Point and Shoot" by aiming the thermometer at the surface to be measured. Then press the "SCAN" button. Press and release the "SCAN" button to take a quick reading or press and hold the "SCAN" button to take continuous temperature measurements as you move the thermometer. When the "SCAN" button is pressed, the "Infrared" icon flashes and the measured temperature is shown on the display. After releasing the "SCAN" button, the last recorded temperature is shown along with the word "Hold."

Continuously Scan Temperature in Lock Mode:
To continuously measure temperature over a long period of time without having to hold down the "SCAN" button, your thermometer can be set to LOCK mode.

1. Press and release the "SCAN" button once to exit STANDBY mode. The "thermometer" icon will disappear and the word "Hold" will appear on the display.
2. Press the "MODE" button three times to cycle through the setting until the word "LOCK" flashes on the display.
3. With the word "LOCK" flashing, press the "SCAN" button to enter "LOCK" mode and begin scanning temperatures for up to 60 minutes.
4. Press the "SCAN" button again to exit "LOCK" mode.

Check Minimum and Maximum Temperatures in an Area:
To easily check for the coolest and warmest temperatures, your thermometer can be set to MIN or Max mode. When scanning temperatures, the temperature on the display will show the coolest or warmest temperature recorded. As you move the thermometer around, the display will remain unchanged until cooler or warmer temperatures are found.

1. Press and release the "SCAN" button once to exit STANDBY mode. The "thermometer" icon will disappear and the word "Hold" will appear on the display.
2. Press the "MODE" button once for MIN and twice for MAX mode. The words MIN or MAX will appear on the display.
3. To begin scanning for minimum or maximum temperatures, press and hold the "SCAN" button. The thermometer will not scan if the button is not held down.
4. Your thermometer will automatically enter STANDBY mode if no buttons are pressed for 15 seconds.

Important Notes

• The area being measured by your Reptitemp Digital Infrared Thermometer increases as you move the thermometer away from the object. For example, if your thermometer is one inch away from the floor of your terrarium, it will measure an area one inch in diameter. If you move the thermometer three inches away, it will measure an area three inches in diameter.
• The thermometer will not measure temperatures through screen mesh, glass or plastic, but will instead measure the surface temperatures.
• Measuring polished or reflective surface may result in inaccurate readings.
