IonGen G2 System
This product is working great!
We are still getting used to how high or low the IonGen needs to be set at, but NO algae! We did have to clean the pond out at first because of the amount of algae that had accumulated but it is working well now.

One of the best investments for our pond
We bought this house that came with an approximately 400 gallon pond in 2009 so this is our 3rd summer with the pond. In 2010 and 2011 we had so much string algae that we were outside for a half an hour every other evening pulling string algae out of the pond with a plastic rake. We used barley pellets, barley extract, algaecides, etc and still had string algae. We also had floating plants, water lettuce and water hyacinth, to compete with the algae. In June 2011 we went to Alaska for 13 days and when we returned home the pond was covered with algae, both string algae and clumps of algae. So when a neighbor recommended the IonGen last fall we decided to give it a try.
We did not plumb the IonGen probe into the water line for fear we would do something that would cause a leak. Instead we just paced the copper probe into the basin where the water dumps out of the filter box. We set the IonGen on 2 and have not had any string algae all summer even though we cannot get the water hardness up to the level recommended in the IonGen instructions. We still get a little algae on the rocks which can be scrubbed off (once a month) with a scrub brush but the water has been perfectly clear with absolutely no string algae since we started running the IonGen in May. We turned the IonGen up to 3 in response to the algae on the rocks but that didn't help with the algae on the rocks. Since we vacuum the pond once a month, we can scrub that algae off the rocks once a month too. We haven't bothered with the floating plants this year.
The IonGen has saved us a tremendous amount of time. The IonGen and a float valve (to refill the pond water) have been, without a doubt, the two best investments we have made for the pond.

Wow what a difference
I was having a real problem with string alge , I was pulling it out by the net full. I treated the 2500 gallon pond with barley extract (liquid form ) and not seeing any results after many many weeks in desperation I bought the iongen. I have not plumbed it in yet as I have torn a knee ligament and required surgery. I just dropped the probes into the waterfall tank and set the unit on max and Wow after 2 weeks cristal clear water. I intend to plumb it in as soon as I can this unit is a dream come true for me no more pesky string alge. It is fantastic really worth the money before the string alge blocked my bottom drain a real pain. If you have a problem with string alge then this is your answer . Buy it now it really works !

Algae dying and water clear
My pond is in a sunny area and I have had to build a pergola over it and use shade cloth to keep the algae down. The pond is more than 6000 gallons and despite lots of pump power and filtration, I had a hard time keeping the water clear and algae down. The IonGen arrived about 3 weeks ago and it has been in the pond for more than two weeks. Since it went in, I had clear water in about 24 hours. The algae has taken a little longer as I have kept the ionization level low till I know how best to work it. The algae is now dying off. The fish have been eating the dying algae and are not coming up for food much right now, but as the algae decreases they are coming up to eat some food. I have had to clean filters a little more often for now. but the water is clear and I can see the rocks again. I am hoping for a summer without having to use chemicals. I was worried about spending so much on the unit, but Doctors' F& S had the best price and it was certainly a savings if it eliminates the need for chemicals.
