Economical liners for ponds are 20 mils thick
|
Low-cost pond liner can be cut to fit your individual pond design! UV resistant, puncture and tear resistant, these high-density PVC pond liners are 20 mils thick and flexible. They are also safe for fish. The 7 ft x 10 ft size is perfect for waterfall construction. Three sizes for ponds up to 1,500 gallons. All have a 15-year limited manufacturer's warranty.
We recommend using a
Pond Underlayment underneath the liner to protect liner from rock or root damage. If your liner does get damaged, a convenient item to have on hand is a
liner repair kit which works on materials such as PVC.
How to Calculate Liner Size: To find the dimensions of the liner you need, take the desired length and width of your pond and add two times the desired maximum depth. You'll need some overlap on the pond banks to secure the liner in place, so add an additional 1-1/2 to 2 feet to these figures. For example: For a finished pond that measures 10 ft long x 15 ft wide x 1-1/2 ft deep, you'll need a 15' x 20' liner.

Pond Planning Tips
- Before breaking ground, always consult with local utilities, and if necessary, obtain permits. Once you begin, take your time. Your new pond is a work of art you'll enjoy for years.
- For best success with flowering pond lilies, plan the position of your pond so that it receives at least six hours of sunlight. Too much sun can overheat the water, so shade is equally important. Positioning your pond close to your home can help, and may also simplify electrical and water hook-ups.
- Pond size and shape are always important decisions, but when it comes to the health of your pond, depth is even more critical. Koi prefer a depth of at least 3 feet. To prevent water from freezing completely in winter you may need to dig deeper, up to four feet or more if you live in the far north.
- Select your pond components in advance from a knowledgeable and experienced supplier. Kits are an excellent option because the matched components always fit, and the directions are easy to follow. For a trouble-free installation, select the best quality components you can afford.
