I have koi and they love to eat any and all plants. This worked great. And looks very nice in pond when plants fill it up. Also give shade to the pond.

Saved my plants!
I had never had a problem with koi fish eating plants until recent additions destroyed everything. This floating planted is solidly built with durable mesh and blends in well with the water once it is completely filled with plants. The koi try to peck at the roots and their attempts are completely foiled; watching the planter bob up and down from the koi's trying to break into the plants is instant gratification. Although it has a loop at the bottom to tie a weight to it so it will not go into the skimmer, I opted to tie it to a rock around the edge instead. The koi also like to rearrange my plotted plants (and are big enough to be successful at it) so I didn't think a weight would stand a chance.
