This my second solar fountain pump
I bought my first solar Sunjet 150 a couple of years ago and it is still going strong everyday. I love to use solar powered lights and the idea of a solar powered water fountain pump is ideal. I use both of these pumps in large clay pots with plastic liners in our dog yard and cat patio. I love the sound of the water during the day. Never had a problem with the unit.

Works well but I wish the cord was longer. It is hard for me to get the panel in a sunny spot. However, that is just how it ended up for me and has nothing to do with the actual performance of the pump.

Solar pump runs in full sun
Solar pumps are an effort to provide some water movement and aeration in ponds that are too far from electrical outlets. Like most solar pumps, this one provides a very weak flow. It will only run at all when there is full sun on the solar panel and sometimes not then if the intake is clogged. The first night I used it, the raccoon ran off with half the parts (he likes to eat Styrofoam) but left me the pump so I was able to make it work with spare parts. The pump will not stay stuck to the liner on the bottom so I have to upright it every single day. The pond it is in is not in full sun so it only runs for a few hours a day. So, I would say it's worth it if you can spare the money and have a small pond (under 50 gallons) in full sun. Otherwise, dig a trench and run power out.
