Great Product, if you treat it right
This is the third one of these I've purchased. The pond I have has 9 fish in it and has trees hanging over it, so it gets quite a bit of debris. That said, I've started using some good goop-dissolving enzymes, and they, working with my ultraviolet filter system do the trick quite nicely.
Many folks think that just throwing the pump in the water and attaching a filter is all one has to do. But, if you have a good bit of stuff the pump has to move around, you have to supplement the good bacteria and remove large debris from time to time.
I've tried other pumps with pre-filters, and the clog and are far too expensive. This one, with some attention does the trick!

Product has been a nightmare
This product has been very disappointing. The filter & pump came as a kit, it has a waterfall & fountain. The product arrived damaged. I called the number on the instructions. They sent me a replacement part immediately. After getting everything installed, fountain seems to work OK, but the waterfall is only a trickle. I tried calling the number on the instructions again & they asked me to send the whole kit back to them. Seems there was some problems. After a few weeks the whole kit was returned, minus some of the parts needed to run the filter. The missing parts were returned in about a week. The whole thing is now installed and the waterfall is still running at a trickle. I cannot recommend this product.

Fish Mate 800 Premature Failure
Purchased a Fish Mate 800 pond pump in April 2012. The pump worked for about 6 months, and then failed prematurely. Warranty requires sending pump to Texas at my expense, with no replacement available in advance. I wouldn't buy another Fish Mate pump with this poor reliability. If the pump failure were to occur in the middle of summer, you would be forced to buy a replacement immediately. In cases of failure, the manufacturer/distributor should immediately provide a replacement, and pay for the return shipping.

Expensive and NOT reliable
I have had two of these; a 3500 XS and a 2000. The 3500 XS worked great as a waterfall pump for one summer then froze midway through its second season. It is not user-accessible for repair. The 2000 unit worked for about 2 months whereupon the PLASTIC impeller shaft snapped. The repair kit is half the cost of the pump ! These are incredibly unreliable and expensive to boot. Actually, I would give them less than a one star rating. Too bad, they start out working great and then just die. These need to go back to the drawing board.
