As the water heats around the core of the Cobalt Anti-Ice Pond Heater, an upward current of warm water is created and directed outward. The chimney-like heater housing concentrates this heat for a "booster" effect that maintains an ice-free area around the vented float. An opening in the ice is essential to prevent toxic gas buildup and to allow fresh oxygen back into the pond water.

Ceramic heating element of the 100W heater is protected by a durable aluminum case and a layer of thermoplastic material. Features overheating protection. Cobalt Anti-Ice Pond Heater measures 6-1/4" diameter x 10" high with a 12 ft grounded power cord. Ideal for ponds up to 54 sq ft (for ponds with a greater surface area, two heaters are recommended, spaced well apart).

To do this operation, it is necessary to screw the upper part of the heater into the float. A final click at the end of the screwing will indicate that the coupling has been completed and that the pond heater is ready to be placed in the pond.

The manufacturer suggests positioning the Cobalt Pond Heater in the deepest, most shaded area of the pond for maximum benefit. It is better to utilize your pond heater before the pond freezes over. When winter approaches, anticipate freezing conditions.

If ice has already formed on the surface of the pond, gently pour boiling water onto a concentrated area of the ice in order to melt a sufficient area for the heater.

Under no circumstances should the ice be broken by smashing, as this may cause the fish great stress, and can injure or even kill them.

The Cobalt Pond Heater is ideal for ponds up to 54 sq ft. For ponds with a greater surface area, it is recommended to use two heaters spaced well apart.

Remove the pond heater when not in use, dry and store in original packaging in a cool, dry place out of sunlight. Inspect your Cobalt Pond Heater each time before use.
