Convertible Pond De-Icer

Choosing the right de-icer is easy thanks to the versatile Convertible Pond De-Icer from Allied Precision. This clever unit prevents freezing winters from completely sealing the surfaces of large or small ponds. Powerful 1,500 watt de-icer converts from a floating unit to a sinking de-icer depending on your needs. Use unit as a floating de-icer in larger ponds or for placement farther away from shore. Remove rugged, oversized float for use in smaller ponds or in shallow areas closer to shore.

Allied Precision Convertible Pond De-Icer boasts innovative features for safe and reliable operation. Multiple thermostats ensure accurate activation when pond water temperatures drop below 43°F and automatically shuts off at 58-60°F. To Operate As a Floating De-Icer
Simply place the unit (with the float attached) into the water. Connect the cord to a properly grounded GFCI-protected outlet.

To Operate As a Sinking De-Icer
Remove the Cover and Float from the unit by slipping a screwdriver into the groove between the Cover and Base and popping the four Cover Tabs off the Base (save the Cover and Float in case you wish to convert the unit back to a floating unit later). Turn the unit upside down and lower it into the water so that it rests on its feet at the bottom of the tank or pond. Connect the cord to a properly grounded GFCI-protected outlet.

Maintenance
Do not allow lime or other impurities in the water to build up on the Heating Element. The frequency of cleaning depends directly upon the composition of your water supply. Lime removing cleaner can be obtained at any farm or hardware store.

General Information
During winter, gasses from decomposing matter and fish waste build up under the ice and can kill pond fish IF the gasses are not allowed to escape. Allied Precision Convertible Pond De-Icer (Mfg# PDT15) prevents this from happening by keeping a hole open in the ice so harmful gasses can escape.

The Convertible Pond De-Icer from Allied Precision incorporates multiple temperature sensors to monitor water temperature as well as protect against overheating. Traditional de-icers use one sensor to monitor both water and heater temperature. The use of a single sensor to perform double duty may result in the water being heated more than necessary. With the use of multiple sensors, the Convertible Pond De-Icer improves temperature control while keeping a large opening in the ice.

The sturdy, finned aluminum base spreads the heat out to make the Convertible Pond De-Icer run cooler to the touch while putting the maximum amount of heat into the water.

In shallow ponds, the Convertible Pond De-Icer can be converted from a Floating De-icer to a Sinking De-icer by simply removing the Cover and Float. Turn the unit upside down to rest the unit on the bottom of the pond. Sturdy feet support the unit off the pond bottom when operating as a sinking de-icer.
