Add a touch of rustic charm AND improve water quality of your pond or water garden. Aquascape Inc Pond Filter Urn is a decorative ceramic filter that incorporates easily into any setting. Functional and aesthetically-pleasing filter provides two-stage mechanical and biological filtration to help keep pond water clean and clear. Use as your main filter for smaller ponds up to 500 gallons, including preformed ponds or container water gardens. Also makes an attractive add-on filter for any size existing pond.

Aquascape Inc Pond Filter Urn quickly brings the sight and sound of trickling water to ponds with minimal effort or construction. Setting up the filter is as easy as lifting off the top, placing included media inside, setting the top back on, plumbing, and plugging in the pump once it's set in your favorite spot. Removable lid allows easy access for maintenance.

Aquascape Inc Pond Filter Urn comes complete with mechanical and biological filter media. 1/2" inlet accommodates most small filter pumps up to 400 gph sold separately. Includes tapered adaptor that will accept up to 3/4" ID tubing.

Replacement Media Kit includes blue mechanical Filter Pad that filters out large debris and ceramic biological filter rings that provide bacteria with a large surface area for colonization.

Step One:
Carefully unpack your new Aquascape Pond Filter Urn. Gently rinse the included filtration media and insert into the Urn.

Step Two:
Place the Urn in the desired location.

Step Three:
Attach the pump (sold separately) to the 1/2" water hose connection and then to the hose barb attachment on the Urn.

Step Four:
Plug in your pump and enjoy!

Please note that the filtration media included in the Aquascape Pond Filter Urn will need to be cleaned and maintained periodically. You will know when it's time to clean the filtration media when the water stars to pour over the top of the Safety Overflow and by pass the filtration media.

To clean, simply fill a clean bucket with pond water and rinse the filtration media in the pond water.

Mechanical Filtration
Mechanical filters either strain or skim debris like leaves, stirred up muck, and free-floating algae out of your pond. This helps to prevent clogs in other pond equipment as well as reduce the amount of decaying materials from settling on the bottom. They do this by straining water through media of varying densities/thicknesses (typically sponges or pads). Mechanical filters generally strain out suspended particulates.

Biological Filtration
Biological filters use nature's nitrogen cycle to detoxify organic waste products. A colony of ammonia-eating bacteria grows in the filter's biomedia (lava rock, plastic pin balls, foam, and so on) and breaks down decaying waste into less dangerous nutrients. Keeping your pond free from ammonia is essential for koi health, and bio-filters also help eliminate the waste products which lead to excessive algae growth.
