1st season with it, and so far well worth the money
I have had the unit in the pond since December. Looks like a little flying saucer floating in the pond. It always has a green light lit on top. Then when the heater kicks on the light turns red. The temps were between 10 and 17 degrees for a couple of weeks straight so far, and the unit kept a nice 12 to 14” hole in the ice. I am very happy with its performance so far this year. My fish like it too. They all seem to congregate around it. I give it two thumbs up. Good investment.

It did its job very well.
I recently ordered a Laguna 500 watt pond deicer. A cold snap in NY State produced ice about 4" thick on my 20' diameter pond. The product did its job perfectly protecting the fish by keeping a hole in the ice. I wish that it had arrived quicker, and not been back ordered. The long length of the electrical cord was most helpful. I appreciate the help received from your staff when I questioned its whereabouts. Thank you, Don

the best i've tried!
i have tried 5 or 6 other deicers, but this is the best! it truly does cycle on and off very efficiently, unlike some others which clearly stay 'on' too long, and was very kind to my electric bill. even though 500 watts makes a fairly small hole in my 12 x 12 ft pond, it was still adequate to keep all the critters alive. the BEST part is the indicator light on the top, which lets you know the electric is still intact----quicker than checking the ground fault in the garage on a regular basis. this is very important to me in zone 6 because twice in 10 yrs i have had electric failures due to the ground fault tripping that persisted more than 2 days, resulting in 30 dead frogs, and countless minnows and tadpoles. a wonderful product. not as cheap as some, but you get what you pay for. good value for its performance.

Love the "On" light indicator
We have only had this heater for about a month so we can't really comment on how effective it melts in the extremely cold temperatures but we love the fact that it has a LED light indicating that it is on. Our last pond heater stopped working and before we noticed it the whole pond froze over. This feature makes it easy to just look out the window and see that the light is on and the heater is working.
