Barley Straw

Barley straw is most effective in shallow water with sunlight and good circulation. In 6 to 8 weeks, the straw begins releasing safe oxygenators to clear your pond naturally.

Tie the straw in small bundles, make flat sheaves or stuff it into net bags. Weight or stake to the bottom of the pond or water garden in an area with water movement.

Microbial growth, oxygen and warm water temperatures activate the decomposition of the straw. Place Barley Straw in areas with good oxygenated water flows. Use 1/2 lb for ponds approximately 500 gallons.
