if you let it float it's fine
like other posters i first tried tethering it to the bottom of our pond. this didn't work. but then i just let it float and it works fine. just as the ice is beginning to thaw the koi are beginning to emerge from their castle.

Not a good solution
I bought two of these fish shelters. I have an existing pond and wanted to put them in the part that is about 5 feet deep. They are entirely too light weight to simply submerge and would require me - ugh - getting into the pond and some how placing them on the bottom. I'm not sure how they would stay on the bottom - maybe the water pressure? But no way I'm going in the pond at this time of year - or maybe ever to place them.

This product is not as it's described.
When ordering, the advertisment states made of "mesh". To me mesh is metal. This product is nothing but regular screening over a frame. For that price, it should have been something more sturdy. I returned the ones I purchased.

Not worth it!
I bought two of these units for my pond. The main issue is that there is no weight to hold them down and in place, and it's too flimsy to put anything on top. I ended up filling PVC pipes with sand and zip tying them to the inside of the cave. Would have been a lot easier to just purchase some other option. Save your money!
