House of Treats Large Dowel Refills, 20 ct
My African Grey loves the House of Treats
I give my african grey parrot nuts as treats and he really gets excited when he gets a whole Walnut in the shell. When I put a walnut in the House of Treats tiki hut, he really gets to work. He has to get through several of the dowel bars in order to pull the walnut all the way out.
You can tell he gets a real sense of accomplishment when he is done.
Here's a tip - Put the treat in the hut without the bars the first time until your parrot gets used to it. Then add a few bars at a time over a number of days. By the end of the week he'll be an expert.
Make sure to order lots of refill bars. I thought about making my own, but its SO much easier to by them ahead of time.

I would buy this again.
My Goffin cockatoo, Rosie loves this toy and will be kept busy until she works through the wooden bars. She is usually into it in a few hours. She never tires of this toy.

Fun concept, a little lacking in design
For one of my greys, who does not have a lot of dexterity due to a foot injury, this is a great toy. She uses it just as she should - chews through the wooden bars to get to the treats. It gives her hours of fun. For a disabled bird this toy is likely very fun.
However, my other grey completely ignored the dowels and simply unscrewed the bottom plate, at which point everything falls out - defeating both his reward for hard work and the point of the toy. The main design flaw here is that the screw that holds the bottom plate is very loose so it's easy to turn. There is no way for me to tighten it. I would suggest that the mfg tighten this down so that it actually requires a coin to turn, or changing the design so that the lid screws down instead (which will make it much harder to dump stuff on the ground even if the bird gets it open.)
