Smart bird perch design features real pumice on the sides to trim claws and condition beaks. The textured plastic base your bird stands on has irregular shapes to massage feet. Diameter varies, too, like a real tree branch. Plastic mounting hardware included. Assorted colors.

Unlike heavier cement perches, this perch features a lightweight plastic base. Even the plastic attachment hardware is easy to use and difficult for your bird to destroy. Pumice coating on sides is considered safer than sand perches. Nontoxic and safe for your bird.

For best results, position the Safety Pumice Perch slightly above your bird's normal perch to ensure optimum usage. Place perch with smooth side up, so the ends of your bird's nails come into contact with the pumice on the side of the perch.

Safety Pumice Perch XSmall 5/8" x 6" long 4.2 5 26 26

Love it! And so does my canary! I have had another perch by another maker that my canary rarely would perch on or utilize. I decided to purchase this perch in the hopes that my canary would utilize it since he has nails that grow so quickly. To my surprise he uses it! He will even perch on it for a length of time while resting and he sleeps on it. Not to mention, he bounces on and off of it all day long, which tells me that its comfortable for him to perch on. Great for my Linies nails I have a linnie and they have to have their nails clipped every month due to the fact that they grown so fast, but with this perch I am able to go every 6 weeks, so this perch saves me alot of money. I will be replacing it if anything ever happens to it. May 13, 2013

Great perch for keeping nails trimmed. My Amazons love their new perches and so do I. It keeps their nails trimmed very well & they like to rub their beaks on it too. Helps to keep their beaks in good shape. Perches are easy to clean and install. Highly recommend this product. February 15, 2013

great perch! I have two parakeets and they both love this perch! It's light weight so I can place it anywhere in the cage, unlike the concrete perches that I need to place more carefully so the bars do not get damaged. The birds love rubbing their beaks on the pumice! November 29, 2012

I would go with a small...thats what I got and my girl uses it all the time, she enjoys the pumice perch or the pollen perch(also small size) I think a medium would work too for cockatiels but a small is good too :)

Small should be fine. These perches tend to run a little bigger. I have bought the smalls for my cockatiel and they work out great !!

Thank you for your question. We suggest using perches that are 1/2"-1" so the small should work fine for your parakeet. You could also try the XSmall if you wanted, as it would also be an acceptable diameter based off our size recommendations.

Is this perch suitable/safe to use in the shower time after time?

It would be attached to pvc. I am thinking this would not be as slippery as the pvc perch currently used. The shower perch in the picture I made myself, it is attached to the shower rod above the shower doors and can slide to the center of the shower. It is supported by the shower door to keep the perch level.
