Interacting with your bird is every bit as important as providing an interesting environment. The secret to keeping your bird happy is the frequency of attention, not the duration. A few minutes of attention several times daily works wonders to relieve stress. Mental growth comes from engaging in a variety of life experiences. Experiment to discover the types of toys your bird finds the most interesting and challenging. Keep in mind that no matter which toys you provide, and regardless of how intriguing, your bird will eventually tire of them. It is important not to place too many toys in the cage at once, which may over-stimulate your bird and cause stress. It's better to choose a select few and to rotate them every few days.
Cleaning Instructions Toys should be cleaned weekly. Remove toys from cage and wash them with hot, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow toys to dry completely before returning them to your bird's cage. It is a good idea to have two or more sets of toys so clean, dry ones can be quickly placed back in the cage while the other set dries. Discard any toy that does not come clean, is frayed, or broken.

My two african greys love this toy!!! It's the best toy. They love leather and wood toys and their favorite is Spiddy. I have to buy Spiddy again and again and again, because they love it.
I ordered this toy last week for my African Grey, Dakotah. He loves to chew on rope toys so I decided to give this one a try. Previously, I had purchased something for him at my local pet store and he was terrified of it. With much trepidation, I hung the spidey in his cage. Within hours, I noticed that he was happily chewing and playing with it! Huge success. I will definitely be ordering him another one as a spare! I highly recommend Drs Foster & Smith for their great prices and fast shipping. Thanks again for a super product! Dakotah thanks you too!
I bought the Spiddy for my eclectus after reading a review in one of your catalogs from a woman who said her eclectus loved it, and boy was she right! The Spiddy is by far his favorite toy, and it keeps him happily entertained for hours!
My African grey loves chewing up toys. I purchased Spiddy and some replacement wood parts two months ago. My grey is still playing with Spiddy. Most toys only last one day with him. After He chewed up several wooden pieces,I un tied the leather strips and replaced it with a new color wood piece. He watched Me fixing His toy. Soon I ran out of replacement parts. That did not end His toy. HE learned how to un-tie and tie a knot by himself. He makes knots in the leather all day long.
If your bird is under constant stress, it may lead to fatigue, illness, weight loss, a weakened immune system, deteriorated plumage, or more. Protect your precious pet from the negative effects of stress.
Even in the cleanest cage, unclean toys and accessories increase the likelihood of transmitting harmful bacteria and disease. We recommend you clean toys and accessories weekly, right along with your cage-cleaning regimen.
No matter how you encourage activity and exercise, the most beneficial aspect of your bird's time outside the cage remains his opportunity to interact with you.
