lots of hassle that may not even work for you
I had a pair of DW 96-2 pumps that were working, but poorly.
I opened the first up and found out immediately that these kits would not fix my problem. The clear plastic part that the valves sit in was cracked and the screws were badly rusted.
I tossed it and moved on to pump 2
I was able to install all the parts and improve performance dramatically, but looking at the pump as I took it apart, the only problem I saw were a slightly dirty air filter and and dirty reed valves valves. I could have just as easily have fixed this pump without the repair kit.
One of the clear plastic valve body was cracked on this one too, but it didn't seam to be causing problems...yet.
The included wrench is a joke. it bent open to an unusable size after removing just one of the 4 bellows nuts.
You need to supply your own screw driver, tweezers, q-tips and nail polish (ya, like I have that laying around).
Direction were OK, but not great.
To sum it up; you get a bunch of parts you don't need, but not all the parts you do, plus a useless wrench. These things are a huge hassle to rebuild even with the kit with the multitude of small parts. Plus the fact it may or may not work, make a rebuild attempt a poor way to spend your money and kill an evening. If you already opened up your pump and know what the problem is, and you like this kind of thing, go for it. For the rest of us, just buy a new pump. They aren't that expensive, only about $30 more than the rebuild kit.
If this kit included bellows on valve-body assemblies, I'd have given it 5 stars!
