After being fed up with Fluval (I had two 406's die on me within a year) I decided to give the Aquatop AF 300 a try. This filter has a lot of nice features, but it has one major flaw. It throws tons of micro bubbles into the tank. I contacted customer service regarding this issue, and I was thoroughly impressed. I was sent a new unit, no questions asked. I installed the new filter today, and the same problem. Therefore, I am now convinced that it is a flaw with the filter itself. It seems rather unlikely that I would receive two defective filters. So if you don't mind a lot of microbubbles, give this filter a try, otherwise, I would pass on it.

I guess I expected great things from this device. I will say, that the pump/filter dorse really seem to circulate the water. For that I'm thankful.
The UV light seems to be WORTHLESS! I have more algae now than before I started! For the money, not sure it was worth it!

A friend of mine in the hobby 22 years just bought the AF 400 for his 125 gallon aquarium. He was not impressed with the filter at all. It kept finding bubbles in the filter and the UV bulb must be too weak for the speed of the water because with the UV on for a week straight the water was still cloudy. It's a good looking filter and the priming button does make water flow start fairly easily but the filter kept coughing up bubbles and the UV bulb is absolutely useless. Good try Aqua Top, maybe next time. My opinion pass on it.
