Automate Night Mode function on your Hydor Koralia Wavemaker Controller. Using the supplied supports, position the Photo-Electric Cell so that it is illuminated by the lighting system of the aquarium. Plug the Photo-Electric Cell in your Hydor Wavemaker. When the illumination system turns off, the pumps will slow down to the minimum power. Once the illumination system starts again, your Hydor Koralia pump(s) will return automatically to the set program.
The Photo-Electric Cell is supplied already calibrated. Should it be necessary (in special illumination situations, such as with a strong light or a window close to the aquarium), the Photo-Electric Cell can be calibrated to the real conditions.
Please follow these simple steps:
Turn the Hydor Wavemaker completely off by positioning the switch on the back panel to the "O" (OFF) position.
Make sure that the Photo-Electric Cell is connected correctly to the Hydor Wavemaker and that it is well illuminated by the aquarium lighting system.
Turn the Hydor Wavemaker on by pressing the back switch to the "I" (on) position.
When the red LED on the front panel of the Hydor Wavemaker turns on, press the SET button - the red LED will start flashing.
Turn the aquarium lighting system on or to "daylight" setting.
Press the SET button again: The red LED will start flashing faster.
Turn the aquarium lighting system off, or to "nightlight" setting.
Press the SET button for the last time: the red LED will stay on for a moment and then the system will start working following the new calibration.
NOTE: Calibration was programmed so that you can first set either daylight or nightlight as you please. This means the above points E to G can be inverted. The Photo-Electric Cell cannot be calibrated unless connected to the Hydor Wavemaker.

The Hydor PME Photo-Electric Cell is an accessory designed to automatically turn the pump(s) connected to the Hydor Wavemaker 2 and 4 down to the minimum level during the night. The electronic Photo Sensor is able to detect the intensity of the sources of light, ensuring the Hydor Wavemaker goes into Night mode. The photo sensor should be placed on the edge of the tanks (in open tanks), or near the lamps (in closed tanks).
Q.Does the Hydor PME Photo-Electric Cell come with the Hydor Wavemaker? A. No, the Photo Sensor is an optional accessory that can be purchased separately from the Hydor Wavemaker and the Koralia 12V pumps.
Q. Why is the Hydor PME Photo-Electric Cell useful? A. The Photo Sensor is necessary for the automatic activation of the Night mode of the Hydor Wavemaker 2 and 4. Using the Hydor Wavemaker, it is possible to program the automatic activation and deactivation times for the Night mode, setting the Photo Sensor as you prefer.
Do I have to calibrate the Hydor PME Photo-Electric Cell, or is it already calibrated?
The Photo Sensor comes already calibrated, but in particular light conditions. To calibrate it to the actual light conditions it is to be used in, follow the instructions provided.
If I do not have the Hydor PME Photo-Electric Cell, how can I set the Night mode?
If you do not have a Photo Sensor, you can set the Night mode manually, by pressing the SET key of the Hydor Wavemaker 2 module for about three seconds. To deactivate the mode, just lightly press the same key. If you have a Hydor Wavemaker 4 without a Photo Sensor, it is possible to set a special program with the pumps at the minimum level for a period of time decided on by the user.

Water current is essential to nourish and feed your aquarium's inhabitants, as well as clean and regulate your aquarium's water. In addition, poor water movement hinders biological filtration, which in turn, raises toxins to dangerous levels.
Don't take the quality of your tap water for granted. If you draw your water from a well, nature may not be providing you the perfect balance. If you are using tap water from your municipal department, it likely includes minerals and additives.
