EcoTech Marine Battery Backup
BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD
I have always been obsessed with concealing ANYTHING in my reef tank that wouldn't be visible on a real reef. Originally, I had 4 submersible pumps on either side of the tank to create flow patterns...these HAD to be concealed with flat, vertical rocks.
Then came the EcoTech Vortek , with it's ingenious wet/dry concept, where the motor is on the outside and the blades on the inside. By placing just one small unit on the back of the tank, I have all the flow I need to literally cover an entire 72 gallon bowfront. The programable control unit has a variety of flow patterns and a volume control.
Worth every penny!

Just what I expected.
This is a great replacement for my old MP40 wet side. You can't go wrong with the VorTechs.

Use the filter covers
If you run your vortech's near 100% use the filter covers. I've now lost 3 fish to getting sucked on the filter grate, 2 on MP10's and 1 on an MP40, in the past 2 years, and not a single fish another way. The vortechs are death traps without them.

Best deal around
On memorial day weekend, one shaft on one of my vortech's broke. It was under warranty, but I wanted to get the ball rolling ASAP. So I shoped around looking for the best deal I could find. Naturally, I checked with the drs! They had the best deal! I ordered it, then tues contacted the manufacture, who warranty'd it. But it took longer to get here from them. When the new part arrived from the drs, I was back in bussiness! Now I have a spare that I got from the manufacture as a backup, incase something ever goes wrong!
