Useful for all kinds of projects
I have 4 feed rings, and might get another.
One, of course, is used for food. I have it right under an automatic feeder so that my corals can be fed at midnight after lights are out without turning off the return pump. It also feeds the fish when I know I'll be busy.
I also have one with ulva growing on it, a macro algae that likes high light and high flow.
Another ring hold dragons breath macro in the current, a macro that doesn't attach so the ring is perfect for holding it.
Another ring is a new experiment, I'm going to try to grow red turf algae on it by gluing a piece of screen to the bottom, making a tiny algae scrubber. My tang likes to eat the red turf algae, but it will only grow in the overflow because of it's light and flow needs. I'm hoping I can get it to grow on the feed ring so the tang can pick at it.
These are cheap and easy to experiment with. My fish love checking out the rings for the various foods dropping through them and growing on them.
