As a clarifier, each UV unit quickly clears up unsightly green water so you enjoy crystal-clear aquarium water with minimal effort. Performance is guaranteed when sized, installed and operated according to manufacturer instructions. Advantage Series UV's are ideal for freshwater, marine or reef aquariums.
How Ultraviolet Works
UV is a proven dependable method for controlling algae, bacteria and protozoa. The ultraviolet lamp emits a germicidal ray that alters or disrupts the DNA or RNA of single celled organism. By properly implementing an Aqua Ultraviolet system inline, these organisms can be eradicated effectively without any harmful residuals.

- Reef Tanks -A UV rated in the 30,000-45,000 columns is ideal for the reef environment. UV's rated at higher kill rates will destroy the planktonic food supply for the reef.
- Marine Fish Tanks (no reef or live rock) - A UV rated in the 75,000 and 90,000 columns will be the most effective at controlling fish diseases.
Note: GPH numbers are based on an assumption of water flow turning over tanks volume three to five times per hour. |
