Long-lasting UV lamps are positioned entirely between the inlet/outlet ports so the entire length of the lamp is utilized. The result is optimum protection against harmful aquarium pathogens.

Emperor Aquatics SMART UV Sterilizers employ their exclusive remote SMART ballasts designed to operate the UV lamp at peak efficiency. Precise input wattage to the UV lamp optimizes performance for long-lasting, reliable use. High quality water tight UV sterilizers boast durable, heavy-wall construction for years of trouble-free operation. Wiper models, recommended for freshwater applications only, allow easy removal of soft waste removal from quartz sleeve without interrupting UV operation. Adjust flow rate based on use. Reducer and 1" Barb Ports included for convenient installation (3/4" Barb Port for 25W model). 1-1/2" Union Ports for inlet & outlet. 3-1/2" diameter.

Installation
SMART UV Sterilizers require no additional hardware for wet applications. Regardless of the application, solid waste should be removed from the water before it enters the UV Sterilizer. Proper installation improves performance, longevity and safety. Install SMART UV Sterilizers where they can be easily serviced.

Do not operate the UV Sterilizer with a new installation containing fish until the water has been tested, showing that the nitrification cycle has been completed and biologically balanced.

Canister Filter/Aquarium Installation
Pressurized Canister Filters are commonly used with freshwater/saltwater aquariums. It is important to match the Canister Filter's flow rate to the capacity of the SMART UV Sterilizer. If this is not plausible, use a by-pass manifold. To prevent back-siphoning, consider installing a check valve or ball valve (see filter manufacturer's instructions for recommendations).

Wet-Dry w/External or Submersible Pump Installation
Match the SMART UV Sterilizers capacity to the re-circulating flow rate performance of the pump. Manufacturer recommends using mechanical filter media inside the overflow and at the top of the wet-dry filter.

Installing a check valve after the UV Sterilizer will eliminate back-siphoning. Installing true-union ball valves will allow flow adjustments and UV Sterilizer removal. For best results, install a saddle-style water flow meter, mounted horizontally on the outlet side of the UV Sterilizer. Follow the water flow meter manufacturer's instructions for proper installation and operation.

Wet-Dry w/External or Submersible Pump Installation
This installation configuration is identical to the Wet-Dry w/External or Submersible Pump Installation but with the addition of a by-pass manifold. The by-pass is used to deliver a precise water flow to the SMART UV Sterilizer when the overall clean water return flow rate exceeds the UV's capacity.

Installing a check valve after the UV Sterilizer will eliminate back-siphoning. Installing true-union ball valves will allow flow adjustments and easy UV Sterilizer removal for servicing. For best results, install a saddle-style water flow meter, mounted horizontally on the outlet side of the UV Sterilizer. Follow the water flow meter manufacturer's instructions for proper installation and operation.
