I know this is mostly for nitrates. However, there is something else in it, and it does say, it keeps your tank cleaner, and it does. I always run out of easy balance much sooner than I run out of quick start, and I buy them both on the same day. I also love that it helps to regulate my PH which is always low.

Rated 5 out of 5 by anabasmama Excellent for Nitrate Reduction
After testing the water in my freshwater aquarium, I found that my nitrate was up to 40 ppm and knew that I needed to lower it before it got worse. However, at the time I had no running water in my house and therefore couldn't simply do a water change. Hoping to keep the levels under control, I picked up a bottle of Tetra EasyBalance+ that claims to reduce nitrates by converting them into nitrogen gas, despite my skepticism from reading online reviews that denied its effectiveness. I followed dosing instructions exactly, and two days later I again tested my nitrate levels and found that they were down to just 5 ppm!
As is apparent by these test results, this product is effective for reducing nitrates. I have not tested its effectiveness as a pH buffer or phosphate reducer, but it's certainly well worth your money simply for its work with nitrates!

Rated 5 out of 5 Works great.
This stuff helps control nitrates in my 55 gallon goldfish tank where the high bioload makes nitrates rise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by yowzasma I have been using this for years.
I have a 55 gal with Endler's Livebearers and a 29 gal with "Feeder Goldfish (plane ole Comet Goldfish which I prefer ;)
I only do a water change 3-4 times a year and use Tetra EasyBalance Plus (usually) regularly...
My Endler's are reproducing and the Goldfish growing.
Our tap water does not always give a good result with the water change and that is the reason I use East Balance !
Also, Drs. Foster and Smith have the best prices I have been able to find and that is a big : )
