• Attach the heater vertically or horizontally inside the aquarium by pressing the suction cups against the aquarium wall. For best results, place heater in an area with good water circulation and that is free of algae. Tip: If you place the heater horizontally near the bottom of the aquarium, you won't need to remove it during normal water changes.
• Arrange a Drip Loop to ensure safety.
• Make sure the heater is completely submerged in water before plugging it into an electrical outlet.
• To set the temperature to 78°F or any other desired temperature, turn the Control Knob so that the Knob Marker aligns with the Starting Arrow on the temperature scale.
  • After 24-hours, check the temperature with a quality thermometer and adjust the thermostat accordingly. To increase the temperature, turn the knob left (+). To reduce the temperature, turn the knob to the right (-).
  • After allowing 4-6 hours for the temperature to stabilize, check the temperature. If adjustments are necessary, follow the above procedure until the desired temperature is achieved.

Tips

• For optimal conditions, use an aquarium hood or cover and keep it closed to prevent excessive heat loss.
• The temperature of the aquarium depends on the heater placement and water circulation. If a change to either occurs, an adjustment will be needed.
• Due to sensitivity of the heater's thermostat, the heating Indicator Light will appear to "flicker." This does not mean the heater is malfunctioning. Rather, it shows the constant micro adjustments being made to ensure the water temperature remains constant. The heater was designed to minimize the temperature swings that most heaters cause during their heating and cooling cycles.
• When removing the heater, unplug it 15 minutes before exposing it to the air.
