Eclipse Filtration and Illumination System Replacement Bulbs

Replacing Bulbs
Caution:

Handle hood with dry hands only. Water can seep into lighting vents in hood and damage electrical components.
DO NOT attempt to remove white Access Housing from mounting. To do so may cause electrical shock and severe injury.

Illumination for the Eclipse unit is provided by a daylight full spectrum fluorescent lamp, selected for truest color rendition and live aquatic plant growth properties. Over time, lamp performance will decline. Replacement after 50,000 hours, or 12 months of use, is recommended.

Unplug Light and Pump. NEVER change lamps when power is on.
Lift Lighting Housing. Using a screwdriver, rotate Lens Cover Fasteners a single quarter-turn to the stop. Fasteners remain in Lens Cover. Note: Eclipse 3 has three fasteners. Carefully remove Lens Cover by lifting up and out. Set aside.
Remove lamp. Grasping each end, gently twist 90 degrees and pull forward and out from housing sockets.
Insert new lamp.
Replace Lens Cover. Rotate lens Cover Fasteners (1/4 turn clockwise) to secure cover in place.

Eclipse Hoods 1 and 2 Hood Bulb T8-15W 4.3 5 8 8

Great Product - my Second One. I love the top filter apparatus and the general design of the unit. This one replaces my old one - on my 27 gallon tank - which I have had for about 15 years. On the old unit, the light switch eventually corroded and I made a repair. Function has otherwise been fine. For some reason my local pet store has stopped carrying this and other products from this manufacturer. The transformer on this new unit became very hot and the light ceased working after a couple of weeks. Customer support at Drs. Foster and Smith was very helpful in arranging an exchange and paying for UPS shipping. September 14, 2012

Eclipse Hood is great. Easy to install and it has an H size filter and a bio-wheel and also comes with 2 florecent lites in the lift up hood. Very quiet and filter works great. Best price I have found. July 21, 2012

I had put this off for sometime because of the price, but Foster and Smith gave me such a terrific price, I couldn't refuse. Fast delivery too! I inherited the Eclipse system but wondered if I would have to junk it because the lid was getting pretty brittle and the lights non functioning.
