HQI Light: Come on next for 8 - 10 hours depending on coral. The T-5 Lights should also remain on for 8 - 10 hours with the HQI Light.
T-5 Lights: Also need to remain on 15 - 30 minutes after the HQI light turns off.
LED Lights: Turn on 1 - 2 minutes before The T-5 Lights shut down.

LED
All LEDs will go out when one is out.
Remove 1 LED from light housing and disconnect at quick-connection. Retain screws.

Troubleshooting Guidelines IMPORTANT: Always unplug any Marine Series PRO Light before inspecting or disassembling for any reason.
If the lights stop working . . . Check timer and fan:
If display shows the time but all lights are out and fan is on, then the thermal switch has tripped, protecting the internal components of the PRO LIGHT from overheating. Turn off the Pro Light, allow internal components to cool for ½ hour and also provide adequate ventilation. This can result from operating inside a canopy without adequate ventilation. The timer and thermal protector will retain programming and reset when the internal components cool off. Also the lights should operate properly after cooling. Always provide adequate ventilation to speed recovery and to prevent recurrence.
If timer is off, look to see if the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter plug (wall socket -NOT included) has tripped. Also check if the breaker box has tripped. If so, stagger the operating "start" times for the T-5 and HQI lamps to limit the power surge required by the Pro Light. Do NOT operate high wattage appliances on the same circuit as the Pro Light.
If the lights do not operate at setup . . .
Set Clock. The override manual light timer buttons do not work until the present time/clock is set for reference.
If timer does not have a visible display, check the power supply, GFCI, and/or breaker box to ensure power is reaching the Pro Light.
If HQI lamp(s) will not work . . .
If a lamp will not come on initially, it may need to be replaced. If after replacement it still will not come on, the ballast may be the problem.
If the lamp was recently turned off and will not come back on - this is a feature of the ballast to protect the ballast and lamp. Allow the lamp to cool and the ballast will light the lamp after the cool-down period (about four minutes). Leave the light "on" and it will automatically re-start when cooled. If lamp cycles on and off approximately every four minutes, replace lamp.
(Lamp vs. Ballast) Troubleshooting Guidelines T-5:
IF one lamp is out and all others are on, replace only the lamp that is out.
IF both lamps are out side by side, the ballast is likely an issue. Also, check the timer display to see if the light is on -indicated by a blinking Icon (dot) beside the name of the light. The timer must be set to have the lamps work initially.
HQI:
IF the lamp is "OUT", but the timer indicates that the HQI light is "ON", replace lamp. If new lamp does not turn on, ballast could have overheated. Turn off. Wait 1 hour and try again.
LED:
All LEDs will go out when one is out. Replacement involves trial and error. If all LEDs are OK but will not turn on, make sure that the timer LED indicator is set and on.
The time a reef spends under moonlight is believed to be as significant as the time spent in full daylight. Moonlight promotes both internal and external activity among the many thousands of reef organisms.
Many aquatic species come alive at night. In the wild, moonlight triggers an array of biological activities. Whether you've got a freshwater, marine fish-only-with-live-rock, or reef aquarium, use nocturnal lights to illuminate nighttime behavior.
Advances in technology are often assimilated and quickly incorporated into the aquarium hobby. This allows aquarists to take the hobby into a new and interesting frontier that was once impossible without the aid of these devices.
An important component of an aquarium that often gets overlooked is lighting. This article gives a basic description of available aquarium lighting systems.
