great birthday gift Bought for my 2 & 5 year old granddaughters & they love it! It is big enough for a couple of fish & easy to care for! It will be my gift for all the grandkids this year! August 23, 2012

frequent filter changes When I first plugged in the pump, the current was way too strong for the size of the bowl. Two weeks later, water was splashing out of it and trickling off the pump housing. I changed the filter and cleaned the housing. Two weeks later, it was splashing again. I no longer use the filter and have opted for partial water changes 2-3 times per week. Unfortunately, the light cannot be used without the filter going. Too bad because the lighting was quite nice. If you have to go with a bowl, I suggest getting a traditional goldfish bowl and purchasing a bowl heater and pump, separately and specifically meant for a bowl. However, most fish require larger tanks than 1-2 gallons. Only a Betta could tolerate a bowl this size, but the current is too strong. February 3, 2013

My Betta loves it, he's very active in it, he enjoys the water flowing, but he doesn't make a bubble nest in it, too much movement for that, I believe. It's better than the betta cube I had him in.

What type of fish can you have in this tank and about how many?

The aquarium rule of thumb is 1" of fish per gallon of tank. Keep in mind this means at the fishes maximum size. So you could only have a fish that will grow to maximum of 1.8" in size or if you do frequent water changes at once or twice a week you could likely be successful w/ 2 very small fish.

I have 1 betta in mine, they say optimum for betta's is 2 gallons, this tank is 1.8 gallons. Don't they say "one inch of fish per gallon".

I have one in mine, but the suction cup that keeps the cord in place inside the bowl won't stick to the side of the bowl. It, also, won't stick to the side of a flat surface so it is no fault of the round bowl. I am not thrilled with the water pump and filter. I do not use it because of the need to change the filter every other week or the strength of the current which is too much for a Betta.

It has one cord. I am not thrilled by the pump (heavy current for a Betta) and have stopped using it. Unfortunately, that means I can no longer use the light.
