Plus, each aquarium is extremely easy to set up and maintain. Fluval Spec Desktop Aquariums feature an integrated 3-stage filtration system, beautifully disguised with frosted glass that sits in a separate chamber for ultra-simple maintenance. Fluval Spec Desktop Aquariums also include a clip-on light with powerful, energy-efficient LEDs (light emitting diodes) that highlights dazzling color in your plants, fish, and décor. Better yet, the LEDs in each fixture use minimal energy and create virtually no heat. Fluval SPEC Desktop Aquarium Kits feature a black base with aluminum trim that complements any setting.
Fluval SPEC Desktop Aquarium Kits boast quiet operation thanks to their built-in 3-stage filtration system powered by an adjustable-flow circulation pump. A large Foam Filter Block traps particles and debris for exceptional mechanical filtration. Innovative media niches secure an Activated Carbon Insert and a BIOMAX Insert in the Foam Filter Block for space-saving, layered chemical and biological filtration. Eco-friendly products support your efforts to care for your aquarium and aquatic life with a "green" approach letting you take care of your aquarium while taking care of our planet, too.
Installing your Aquarium
Thoroughly rinse the aquarium, cover and filter media using fresh water and a damp cloth. Never use soap on any component placed in your aquarium as soap is harmful to fish.
NOTE: Place aquarium on a level, sturdy surface, away from any electrical equipment, direct sunlight, drafts, heat sources or high traffic areas.
Position filter media, pump, and output nozzle.
Using the Allen Key, secure light unit onto aquarium.
When filling aquarium with water, add the correct dose of tap water conditioner and biological aquarium additive (sold separately). Note: Consult your fish dealer for proper species and fish stocking levels.
Maintaining your Aquarium
NOTE: To ensure the wellbeing of aquarium inhabitants, it is essential to maintain your aquarium. At the very minimum, remove 20% of the water once a week and replace with fresh water that is of similar temperature to your tank and treated with the correct dose of aquarium water conditioners.
NOTE: Regular replacement of the Fluval Filter Media is essential to ensure optimal performance. The filter media should be changed alternately in order to maintain continuous biological activity.

Whether you're establishing your first aquarium, or expanding your hobby experience with a new niche system, small aquariums in the 12-gallon range make a rewarding and relaxing project at home or in the office.
All home reef aquariums are miniature reefs when compared to expansive natural reefs. However, the term "nano reef" generally refers to a miniature reef system that is typically 30 gallons or less. Is a nano reef right for you?
Smaller aquariums in the range of 10-20 gallons are the ideal size for the serious beginner. When stocking your small aquarium, think scale: a community of tiny, active, and colorful tropical fish can make even the smallest setup appear grand.
Successful aquariums depend greatly on research and preparation. Before you install your new aquarium, consider aquarium placement and size to avoid laborious and costly mistakes.
