Greeat Product! Its done everything I would expect. Holding up pretty well to the foot traffic in my home also as I sometimes leave it down after maintenance on my tank. January 12, 2013

Great Product This mat is perfect. Lay it down in front of my 55 Gal Aquarium it keeps water drips off the carpet . It is soft making it nice to roll up and store away. January 10, 2013

It is very handy - so much better than throwing down a towel The length and width of this are good to provide standing room and plenty of splash coverage. I used to have multiple towels but use this instead. I think it is a high quality product. December 15, 2012

Can I use this under my 12 gal tank to protect the melamine surface under it?

I have a glass sheet under the tank, but water drips/drops still slide under and on to the top of the melamine storage unit I'm using as the aquarium base. I'd like to place this under the glass and over the melamine storage unit's top surface, and just leave it there rather than bring it out while doing water changes & other maintenance.
Also, can I cut the edge to fit the slightly smaller base dimensions?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work underneath your tank. I has a little bit of padding and should not harm the melamine. It should be easy to cut to the size you want. It has almost a felt type feel on the top and seems durable, but would be easy to cut.

Answer:

There is a soft rubber coating on the underside of this mat that prevents water getting thru it. I would not put this under the tank or anything like it because of the pressure it could put on the bottom glass. The mfg state that in their instructions. Protect the cabinet with a plastic type shelf liner film this lays flat and has no bulk to it. Hope the answer helps.

Answer:

Not really, nothing should be placed between the tank and its supporting cabinet, which should be leveled before filling. Such a mat would prove useless in the event of a leak, and any problem or that nature must be immediately addressed by draining the tank and repairing or replacing it
