works great to keep fry and sand out of filter
I purchased these to keep fry from being sucked into hob filter as well as to try to save the impellers in my filters because my cichlids like to spit sand into intake when they spawn and this causes a lot of noise and damaged impeller blades. I would recommend to anyone using sand as substrate to have these.

This product is fantastic!!
I was hesitant to try this product., because I've used other sponge pre filters before and was always disapointed . The water was never clear. I'm very glad that I tried Filter Max, because not only does it prevent the guppy fry from being drawn into my HOB filter, but the water is crystal clear. The media in my HOB filter stays much cleaner too. This product is FANTASTIC!!

great addition
Does everything intended to do. It traps particles before entering the primary filter which means it last longer and works more effeciciently the savings in filter media changes more than pays for the product. An added bonus, primary reason for the purchase, was it saved many angelfish fry from being drawn into the uptake of the filter. Went together really easy too.

Good product
Works great for my setup. It traps the larger particles on the surface of the medium which allows the fish to pick at it ensuring no food is left to decay. I use it as a pre-filter for a Cascade 700 and it means much fewer cleanings and less disturbance of my "bio farm"..
