| Quick Setup Guide for Models 1 & 2
STEP 1
Parts Check
Additional items needed to assemble the Sump Filtration System are Teflon® Tape and PVC cement, not included.
STEP 2
Sump Assembly
- Lube inside rim of Rubber Sump Flange with silicone lube (provided). Slide Drain Pipe Muffler into filtration module.
- Rinse BIO-Wheel.
- Rinse (until water runs clear) and install all Media and Trays.
- Attach Module Media Door.
STEP 3
Overflow Connection
- Position Sump under aquarium on the same side as the Corner-Flo.
- Apply standard clear PVC cement to Bulkhead Connecting Elbow and insert end into Bulkhead Fitting.
- Connect ends of Flow Tube Hose to Connecting Elbows and secure with Snapper Clamps.
- Press-fit Sump Connecting Elbow onto Drain Pipe Muffler against Rubber Sump Flange. DO NOT glue.
STEP 4
Recommended Return Connection
NOTE: Pump and Return connection components are not included.
There are many possible methods of plumbing. The following instructions are an example of one possible return connection.
- Wrap threaded end of Pump Elbow with Teflon® Tape (clockwise 3 turns). Screw Pump Elbow into Pump Intake. Hand tighten. Using pliers or channel locks, tighten an additional quarter turn.
- Apply PVC cement to smooth end of Hose Barb. Attach to Return Bulkhead Fitting.
- Attach one end of hose to Hose Barb glued to the Bulkhead, and one end to threaded end of Pump Output. Secure connections with Snapper Clamps.
Note: Open end of Pump Elbow Attachment should face down.
STEP 5
Startup
- Fill aquarium until water spills over the Corner-Flo Partition and starts to fill the Sump.
- Directly fill sump until water is within 1" from the top.
- Plug in pump to start Sump Filtration System. Allow pump to operate for a few minutes.
- When water level in sump stabilizes, apply "Maximum Water Level" sticker to sump.
Note: "Maximum Water Level" indicates how much water to add to the sump while system is running to replace water lost to evaporation.
Caution: Never remove the Bulkhead Fittings while water remains in aquarium. Never operate pump without water.

Inspect pre-filter pad and media trays for clogging or water diversion. Clean or change as needed.
Check BIO-Wheel for obstructions. Clean bearings, check for unimpeded rotation, re-install. |

Check Snapper Connection. Secure (tighten) if loose.
Check bulkhead connections. Tighten if necessary. |
To fully enjoy your Sump Filtration System:
- Replace filtration media and clean media trays every 3 weeks.
- Clean Sump Removable Front Media Door every 3 weeks.
