perfect for your diy sump.
Great option for your diy sump mechanical filtration. I purchased an extra filter so i could just change the dirty one out with a clean filter. Makes maintenance a little easier.

good holder
Since my sump didn't have an inlet I was rubber banding a filter sock to the overflow drain pipe. It didn't work so well and was a hassle to clean. With this assembly, the drain tube sits on top of the sump, secured through the opening on the top of the inlet. This allows for quick and easy changing/cleaning of the filter sock. A little bit pricey, but definitely worth it. I'm knocking off a star for durability - mine broke after a few months in use (not sure why - hope it's just a one time thing). I'm ordering another one.

Good filtration, bad longevity
I purchased this product as the mechanical prefilter for my sump. I have a 180 gal system and had a similar product previously which had worn out. The bag is made of 1/3" filter pad material and grabs the gunk out of the water. The only problem is with my flow (1800 gph) they were clogged to the point of overflowing in about a week and it was not possible to clean them and return them to service.
