Modular, upgradeable LED module accommodates for new aquarium technology
The ultimate in LED light control, longevity, and energy savings delivers results in excellent coral growth. AquaIllumination (AI) Sol Super Blue LED Light boasts a proven track record for phenomenal coral growth. Both LPS and SPS corals flourish under its precision lighting environment. The exclusive use of white Cree XP-G and blue/royal blue XP-E series LEDs combined with proprietary 40 and 70 degree lenses achieve the greatest light spread without sacrificing intensity. Drawing only 75W and measuring 11.875" x 5.375" x 2.35" high, the AI Sol LED Module is a sleek, highly energy-efficient powerhouse choice for serious reef enthusiasts!
AquaIllumination Sol Super Blue LED Light is not only about intensity. This forward-thinking LED system features a modular and upgradeable design for a flexible aquarium lighting system that grows with your needs while keeping up with advancements in LED technology. The AI Sol is also the most controllable aquarium lighting available in the industry. Use with the AI LED System Controller (sold separately) to automate everything you want from basic on/off timer functions to simulating thunderstorms and lunar cycles.
Explore elegant mounting options for your AI Sol with the modular AI EXT Rails or EXT Hanging Kit. Start with the 48" EXT Upright Rail w/ Mounting Bracket and use your choice of 6", 12" or 18" EXT Rails to explore creative tank-mount possibilities. Use EXT Rails in conjunction with the EXT Hanging Kit to connect and hang multiple lights together. Made from extruded aluminum (each sold separately).
Have a nano reef aquarium? AquaIllumination has you covered with the powerful and compact

Sol Blue provides a full power color spectrum closer to 20,000K.
Suggested use
Aqua Illumination typically recommends one module per foot on tanks deeper than 30 inches. On tanks less than 30 inches, one module every 18 to 24 inches is acceptable. The latest generation System is significantly more powerful and produces greater spread than previous generations. Some users may be able to use fewer units depending on what type of corals they are keeping in their tank and how much light is needed.
The AI Sol Super Blue LED Light is compatible with the following controllers:

Acclimation Period
Every aquarium's lighting needs are different. Sudden changes in aquarium lighting may upset, harm or kill your aquarium livestock. The AI Sol may be considerably brighter than your previous light setup.
If you are adding the Al Sol to an aquarium that contains livestock, it is not recommended to initially set the AI Sol at 100% output.
It is recommended that you implement an initial acclimation period for your AI Sol(s). Start with a light level that is less than or equal to your current light output and slowly increase the lighting levels as needed. A light meter such as a lux or PAR meter is recommended to determine previous light levels and setting the AI Sol. To set the desired lighting levels, turn the Controller to "Manual" mode. Adjust color and lighting levels accordingly.
The light duration and intensity needs for an aquarium vary greatly depending on the aquarium's inhabitants. Aqua Illuminations cannot determine these needs. If you are unsure about an aquarium's lighting needs, check with your local aquarium stores, aquarium maintenance personnel, local aquarium clubs or online venues.
Maintenance
*Do not lay objects on tops of the AI Sol, Controller or power supply.
Inspect the AI Sol regularly.
Unplug the AI Sol from the outlet when cleaning to prevent any shock hazards.
Wipe Sol with damp cloth once a week. Do not use any ammonia-based cleaners. Avoid the power plug area. A can of compressed air may be used to blow dust out of the heat sink fins. Wiping and blowing off unwanted buildup will help prevent salt creep and hard water spots from accumulating.
Do not allow any liquids to pool on top of or inside the Al Sol. The AI Sol is not water proof. Do not submerge in water, saltwater or other solutions.
AI LED System Controller
The AI Controller gives you a way to automate the operation of your new lighting module to perform everything you want it to, from basic on/off timer functions to simulating thunderstorms and lunar cycles.
Auto or Manual - Auto Mode lets you set timers and ramp periods. Manual Mode turns off all timers and lets you control everything.
Extensive Control - The AI-Controller allows you to set up to 14 independent timers to determine desired light intensities at any given time of day or night. The Ramp Period option within the timers lets you set how many minutes it takes for your LED light to arrive at your desired intensities; it can change fast or over a designated period of time.
Lunar Lighting - Without even having to schedule appropriate lunar cycles, the AI Controller changes the lighting based off of the lunar cycle on its own. Once you set the clock within the Controller, it will change intensities according to the moon's phases.
Thunderstorms - The AI Controller allows you to create the exciting experience of thunderstorms in your aquarium. You can either set a percentage chance of thunderstorms per day, or even choose the number of storms you would like per day (1-5). Once a storm begins, lightening flashes will occur at different intensities and rates for 30 minutes.
Upgradeability - Aqua Illumination will update the firmware in your controller from time to time to improve current functions or add new features. The model features a USB port for firmware upgrades, providing you quick and easy access to the latest features.

The time a reef spends under moonlight is believed to be as significant as the time spent in full daylight. Moonlight promotes both internal and external activity among the many thousands of reef organisms.
Many aquatic species come alive at night. In the wild, moonlight triggers an array of biological activities. Whether you've got a freshwater, marine fish-only-with-live-rock, or reef aquarium, use nocturnal lights to illuminate nighttime behavior.
Advances in technology are often assimilated and quickly incorporated into the aquarium hobby. This allows aquarists to take the hobby into a new and interesting frontier that was once impossible without the aid of these devices.
An important component of an aquarium that often gets overlooked is lighting. This article gives a basic description of available aquarium lighting systems.
