The latest research is showing that many mor corals than previously thought get vital nutrition from phytoplankton. Some even absorb it through their surface area. I've started feeding this mixed with Selcon and zooplankton and have seen a positive result. There is more polyp extension and corals like mushrooms will wrap around it if target fed. Using this to target feed corals like Blastos and Chalices, you can watch them slurp it up, very slowly of course, it takes about 20 minutes. This is a very concentrated product, so I use about one fourth phytoplankton to three fourths zooplankton. I like this better than liquid phytoplankton because you don't have to refrigerate it and it won't get out of control and turn your tank water green. Personally I think this is important for a varied and healthy diet for many corals, especially softies and large polyp Stonys.

Use very, very little! PhytoPlan is "soup" to feed your corals and tiny crusteanans. I use this once a week to feed my mixed 25 gallon cube tank stocked with LPS, SPS, fish and inverts.
It will could your water, but thats ok since your "soup feeding". Make sure to turn of mechanical and skimmer for a couple of hours.

PhytoPlan is a good alternative to live phytoplankton. It's good quality and it will last you a long time despite coming in a 1oz container. It can be used straight from the fridge, mixed in a cup, or dosed in the aquarium over time. The corals, fish, and snails all eat this stuff.
Use with caution. It takes a long time to mix and has to be mixed completely before using or it will clump. Do not follow the service size on the package. I used two scoops in my 150 gallon reef and there was so much uneatten that it raised my phosphates through the roof and cause a cyanobacteria outbreak.

I love this stuff. You do have to mix it which is a negitive to some people. I hate the thought of what is in the premixed stuff. So i just mix this with some tank water and spot feed! My coral love it my brain opens its polyps and just devours it all. I keep my refrigerated as it takes up almost no room anyway. Keeps it cool and dry.
My only CON is that they done have a bigger size 1 OZ can go pretty fast. I with they had a 10 oz or somthing.
