Freshwater Substrates 20 lbs Style: Rio Grande
I purchase this substrate to replace my old substrate. I decided to try this because of the beautiful sand like look. And I am so very glad I did. It looks awesome in my aquarium. Anyone who wanuts a beach like look in their aquarium should definitely try this!

Beautiful white sand/gravel
I wanted to write this to help anyone else trying to find a good white colored substrate. I wanted an "island" effect with a planted area surrounded by white sand. However, there are three options here so I had a hard time choosing. I used ADA aqua soil for the planted part, then surrounded it with "Moonlight Sand" which is pretty, but SUPER fine, like powdered sugar. I found it didn't look that great although it was really nice sand it just did not have the look I wanted and quickly got discolored from the Aquasoil. I also bought a bag of the "Torpedo Beach" which I really like, and used to cover up the "Moonlight Sand". It is more the texture of coarse raw sugar (only smoother grained) and is heavier, and covers and weights everything else down really nicely. It also has a little sparkle or shimmer to it, but in a very natural way. I don't know, but I suspect that the "Crystal River" is analogous in size and texture to Tahitian Moon sand, which I love for a black substrate. Anyway, if you are torn, I would recommend the coarse/sand-fine/gravel texture of the "Torpedo Beach" for ease in working with and appearance. I think my orange eye black tiger shrimp are going to look great against it.

Resembles a natural river bed!
I just set up a 125 gallon freshwater tank with "sharks" in it and wanted it to resemble a river bed looking natural. The shipment came in 20 lb bags packaged individually so it was not hard to load it into the house. The enclosed packets in each gravel bag contained water conditioner and beneficial bacteria which helped with the cycling of the new tank. I used the Sungold sand on the bottom and Kon Tiki on top and achieved a beautiful natural look, and my fish are happy. Definitely recommend it for the price.

EXCELLENT FRESH WATER SUBSTRATE
I USE THE PEACE RIVER SUBSTRATE IN ALL MY FRESH WATER AQUARIUMS. NOT ONLY IS IT A VERY ATTRACTIVE SUBSTRATE, BUT BECAUSE OF IT'S UNIFORM STONE DIAMETER SIZE IT PREVENTS UNEATEN FOOD FROM PENETRATING TOO DEEP IN THE SUBSTRATE. THIS MAKES AQUARIUM MAINTENCE MUCH EASIER AND KEEPS THE TANK MUCH CLEANER.
