Rated 5 out of 5 by JudyN Excellent product
This product is perfect for a larger opening in which one would like a bit more form as well as function. It works well, and looks great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by LabMomNYC Good design, well made and would recommend
This gate is well made, nice looking and does the job. I was initially concerned because the hinges are made of plastic, but it's holding up just fine after a month's use. It's nice that the gate can expand. This gate is doing its job in keeping my 3-month old lab in the kitchen. She has tried to get around it, but it's heavy enough that she can't move it -- perhaps when she's a little older but hopefully she'll be trained by then! It was easy to assemble.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Robbyn Works for a Crazy Old Cat; Sleep at last
I bought this gate to keep my partially senile 18 year old cat separated and away from my bedroom door as he has a bad habit of scratching at the door and waking me up every morning at 4 AM; Not a pleasant on-going experience. He was also fighting with another younger cat so this fence was a great way to keep them separated. The gate was easy to assemble and took less than 10 minutes. It was a little "rattly" with the black metal fencing against the wood but I was able to fix that minor problem easily by adjusting the gate opening width at the top, and the end of broken off toothpicks were inserted between the metal and the wood to keep a tighter fit. We have a tile floor which can be uneven in places so I added some small soft, protector pads to keep the gate from shaking. It works like a charm. One of the plastic pieces of the original fence was damaged during shipping (plastic pieces on top and bottom of gate opening), but after notifying Drs. Foster & Smith via email, they shipped a new fence within a week and provided a return shipping label for the original fence. The fence is very attractive with cedar wooding and black metal fencing, and is very stable once the above adjustments were made. I am not sure if it could handle a large dog unless it was secured against a wall at both ends (i.e. a doorway), but it is effective for a 12 lb maine coone cat. The end caps are plastic which is unfortunate so I would recommend requesting additional plastic replacement pieces in case it gets damaged in the future; however, it would be all the better if they just designed it with a more durable material.
