I am very impressed with the quality of the boots, as well as the ease of putting them on and keeping them on. Most importantly, my German Shepherd loves them and they're so cute!

Rated 5 out of 5 by azparrothead AWESOME!!!
I have 100 yards of drainage gravel in front of my facility, My Lab (apparently) has tender feet. She makes it to the end but is timid when walking back. I put on these little booties and it's like she is a PUPPY!!! She RUNS, RUNS, RUNS, it's hilarious the difference it makes. It's really funny also because with the booties she "clomps" like a horse and it cracks me up big time. I keep them on her for about and hour then take them off because of other reviews I've read. LOL, I never knew dogs feet got sweatty!!!

Canine Equipment is producing some of the best accessories for dogs I have seen in a very long time. While this review focuses on the CE Ultimate Trail Boot I strongly suggest you look at the other products offered by Canine Equipment.
About the boots:
It is extremely difficult to find dog boots with good traction. Not heavy cleats mind you but just soft enough rubber to grip slippery - non-muddy - surfaces to give good traction. In this case our 15 year old Labrador Retriever is losing muscle strength in his rear legs making it difficult for him to get good traction with his foot pads. The Ultimate Trail Boot gives him that traction and works well in snow and ice situations also. Mud is the only area where these boots do not work well but then I don't think any boot would. The softer rubber soles that give the great traction do not last as long but the trade off is good.
Fit of the boots - follow the size instructions and you will have the best chance of success. Of course some dog’s feet will not match the general sizing in which case return them and get the correct size, larger or smaller. Keep in mind the boots are sized for front and rear feet when you order a set of four. The sizing fits Zebby perfectly even though he only wears the rear set and the front set is for 'just in case' or if one of the other dogs in the pack would need them.
Securing the boots takes a moment or two longer because there is a pleated Velcro tab to close the boot around the foot and a second Velcro strap to tighten the boot so it stays securely on the foot. The instructions state you may have to proceed through a progression of making the secondary straps tighter over a series of days so the dog gets used to it but In Zebby's case tight was fine right away. The second strap does a great job of securing the boot just above the area where the dog's foot pads expand out from the foot. Now Zebby is not a speed demon so if your dog is a fast runner you may have to tighten the strap more securely. Even being a bit slower around the yard Zebby has had problems keeping any other boot on; they always slip off and/or rotate around his feet. Always make certain you do not over-tighten the strap and cut off the circulation.
When the boots get dirty just secure the Velcro closures and toss them in the wash and then dry them in the dryer or just air dry. Use low temperatures in both cases.
As with any Velcro the dog hair and fuzz does accumulate on it. Using a thin, pointed object (tweezers, thin nail or any such device) you can easily rake most of the hair off.
The Ultimate Trail Boots are the best I have found and work extremely well! Zebby is glad I found them for him so he doesn’t slip and fall as much!

Rated 5 out of 5 by williewanka This product is great.
I purchased the product prior to my Quail hunting trip to New Mexico.
Believe me, without the these boots, my English Setters would not last a day tromping through the cactus and sand burs. They hunted hard for 5 days with no problems with the boots.
